The Maine Burglar and Fire Alarm Association is a trade association for the security and life safety industry in Maine. Our members include Burglar Alarm, Fire Alarm, CCTV, Access Control and Monitoring companies that are doing business in the State of Maine. The Association represents the interests of our members and provides them with valuable communications needed to maintain and grow their businesses. We promote the initial education needed for individuals to achieve their requirements for state licensing as well as much needed continuing education.
The Maine Burglar and Fire Alarm Association, established in 1980, is a chartered chapter of the Electronic Security Association. This relationship means that all members of the Maine Burglar and Fire Alarm Association also belong to the Electronic Security Association. This affiliation provides our members with networking opportunities, communication services, discount programs, and a continuing awareness of regional and national trends and issues, thereby ensuring that our members are best prepared to serve the buyers of our services. This affiliation also means that our members are held to the highest standard of ethics, good business practices, compliance with local codes and AHJ requirements, education and training.

I look forward to my tenure as the new President of MBFAA. It is an exciting time in our industry and we have many items showing up on our collective radar, such as the emerging cellular and internet-based alarm and data transmission capabilities. We are also seeing new regulations promulgated by our local AHJs, many of which add to our burden of documentation and result in added costs to the buyers of our services. We need to be aware of pending regulatory changes.
We are the voice of the alarm industry in Maine, and as such, we are sought out often for our input when alarm ordinances and related issues are under consideration. This will only increase as our membership continues to grow.
Your attendance at our meetings is vitally important in determining how the MBFAA can best assist you and represent your interests. Please come, enjoy the opportunity to network with your peers, and be heard!
I urge any member or interested person to give me a call, anytime, to discuss anything of interest or concern in our industry.
See you at the next meeting!Rich Brobst, Jr.President
